Keauhou is on the sunny West Coast of the island between Kailua-Kona and Kealakekua. You will find all sorts of water sports and activities in this area, such as swimming, boating, fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Some of the best snorkeling spots in Hawaii, in fact, are found at nearby Kealakekua Bay! Keauhou Bay is a well known “take off” spot for many other water sports and the beach is great for a picnic or volleyball, or just basking in the sun! It’s usually much less crowded than some of the better known beaches of the Kona Coast. Another point of interest in Keauhou is the Keauhou Garden of the Kamehamas. Located across from the Keauhou Yacht Club, this is a short walk with native plants described on panels. The Keauhou Shopping Village has restaurants, gift shops, discount stores, a golf shop and an interesting gallery with unusual jewelry. Keauhou is also just minutes to all the museums, galleries, restaurants, shops and world class resorts of the Kailua-Kona area. And, a short drive from Keauhou takes you to such historical spots on the Kona Coast as Captain Cook, the City of Refuge and the Hikiau Heiau, once the site of an ancient Hawaiian temple.
